2023 - Year In Review

2023 has been a monumental year for Forest Rangers Soccer Club, from finally moving into our new state of the art facility / club rooms to hosting the FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour and winning the Division 1 BDSA Grand Final.

New Facility / Club Rooms.

New Facility

Long time coming, with many push backs, we were able to successfully move into our brand new state of the art facility we now can call the home of Forest Rangers Soccer Club.

What does this mean for Forest Rangers Soccer Club?

This means, we are able to comfortably host 2 senior games at a time (4 teams) without the need to share change rooms. Referee's / officials have their own spacious room with their own bathrooms. A large and spacious first aid room to cater for injuries and comfortably place a first aid representative in their own space.

FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour

In June, we were asked to be the host of the FIFA Women's World Cup when it arrived in ballarat as apart of the tour that it goes on throughout victoria - one of the few stops in regional victoria.

What does this mean for Forest Rangers Soccer Club?

This bought a significant amount of publicity toward our club, and many more eyeballs that we would not of been able to obtain elsewhere. Having the trophy present, and allowing our miniroos and mini matildas come and witness it, is something that may not happen in their lives again - or may inspire them to chase their dreams to one day hold it.

Alby Kinna Cup

Every year since the passing of Alby Kinna, the first game between Forest Rangers Soccer Club and Ballarat Soccer Club in the Division 1 Open competition, they play off for a cup (trophy).

FRSC beat Ballarat SC 4-0

Anton Erkamps-Seamons Cup

Similarly to the Alby Kinna Cup, each year, the first game that our two division 1 teams verse one another, they play for a perpetual trophy honouring young boy, Anton Erkamps-Seamons.

FRSC beat Creswick 1-0

Rangers Cup

For the first time, an initiative proposed by Geelong Rangers to create a relationship between Forest Rangers Soccer Club and Warrnambool Rangers FC.

Each year, the three teams will come together for a day filled with football, in 2023, Warrnambool Rangers FC were unable to field a side, which resulted in it being a day of Forest Rangers vs Geelong Rangers - Geelong were the better side in each game.

Our End of Year Celebrations

To celebrate the end of the tremendous year that we've had, we put on a 'fun' day for our families and kids within our cub. We were able to successfully host every team at home for this day, with the goal of having everybody stay around the club for the entirety of the day - this was a success.

We had colouring competitions happening throughout the day for anybody interested (targeted for the littlies), we had scavenger hunts happening with prizes, and we also had a Dunk Tank for a bit of a laugh and fun time for our kids - along with more mini games.

FINALS SERIES

For the first time in quite a few years, we were able to successfully get 4 of our 6 competitive teams to break through into the finals series (u12 girls, Div 2 Men, Div 1 Women and Div 1 Open).

Our Div 2 squad, went out first round of finals to a strong North United ballarat team, faught hard all game but unfortunately the constant pressure from North United broke through to score 2 goals. Ending the game 2-0.

Our Div 1 Women's squad, went out in the Preliminary Final, showcasing tremendous heart, grit and work ethic to play all the way to the end, we can't be more proud of them, though, losing 2-1 to North United.

Our U12 Girls team, made it through to the grand final, versing Ballarat Soccer Club, and losing 1-0 in a tough fort game. Our girls, started the year with alot to work on, and making finals was a huge accomplishment within itself, to then make the grand final was above all expectations that as a club we had, many girls being their first time ever playing. Well done girls!! we will be back.

Finally our Div 1 Men are the 2023 Grand Final winners for the BDSA! Beating Creswick Cougars Soccer Club in the Semi Final with a score of 4-2 and the game going into extra time, then facing Sebastopol Vikings Soccer Club in the Preliminary Final, and winning 4-3 in Extra Time as well. Progressing onto North United Panthers, who were undefeated for the entirety of 2023 season, and coming away with the win 4-3 was outstanding performance and all credit to our squad !
