Exciting soccer week ahead.. Round 2

What an exciting start to the season it was with many of our teams being at our home ground to start the season off! We had so many supporters come out and cheer on our teams, who have got off to a cracking start.

Senior Men's

Match 1 Forest vs Daylesford

Solid start to the season for the Senior Men, taking points in a 1-1 draw against a well drilled Daylesford squad. Plenty of positives to take away from this game, with a changeup in personnel and formation. Strong performances on the wings and in midfield allowed us to take control of the game for the majority of the first 45 minutes. A great showing of discipline and heart generated an equaliser after going down 1-0 in the second half. Lots of great signs for the year as we look to build on this result and improve across the season

Senior Women's

Match 1 vs Creswick

Our Senior women’s squad came out guns blazing for Round 1, with players who hadn’t yet trained with the team yet alone played a match of soccer before. The team bonded well from the get go and within the first 20 minutes bagged it’s first goal from returning forward Jacki. Within a few minutes youngster Tiarlah had scored another. With the team settling in and finding themselves comfortable, Creswick slipped through the cracks at several points but it was nothing to stop the girls working together to score another two goals before the halftime whistle, giving Jacki her first hat-trick of the 2022 season. Just before halftime the away team slipped through a goal past the defence in what was viewed by the girls as over complaicancy. Into the second half the girls slowed the game down and played the style of football we hope to see into their future games. Jacki claimed another two goals securing the win for our Forest Women. Honourable mentions go out to Alannah and Claire for their fantastic non stop efforts for the team. It was clear to see the entire team enjoying this style of play with lots of smiles and laughs to be seen.

Under 15's

This week the Under 15's had a bye but are excited for their first game in Round 2 against Ballarat North.

Under 13's

The under 13's got off to an amazing start against a well drilled Buninyong. Unfortunately, the team went down in a 4-0 loss, but that score did not reflect the amazing quality of soccer played by this young and inexperienced team. We had standouts in the goals, which helped keep the scoreline low and our defence was solid with the constant onslaught of attack by Buninyong. This was the first time many of these players have played outdoor soccer or and on a full size soccer pitch, it was a fantastic start and the excitement is flowing for what the rest of the season brings for this very skilled team.

Up and coming events- WE NEED YOUR HELP

Saturday 9th April

This weekend we will see history being made in Ballarat with the first ever A-League game being scheduled to be played on the Stadium pitch at Morshead Park. They will be holding the exciting match between our very own Western United and Wellington Phoenix. Kick off is at 2pm (Tickets- https://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/Show.aspx?sh=WESTER2322) . The exciting news for Forest Rangers is that we have been given the incredible opportunity to run the canteen for this event. Large crowds are expected to attend and therefore this will be a fantastic fundraising opportunity for the club. This opportunity calls for all hands on deck to make it a successful day for the club, if you have any time on Saturday (even as little as an hour) please help out the club. The bonus is you can come and help out for an hour and still be able to watch most of the game. We can not do this without the help of the Forest Rangers family, please reach out via the facebook page (http://www.forestrangerssc.com/) or let us know at training if you are happy to help. Thank you!

Monday 25th April

Forest will be running a Bunnings BBQ on Monday the 25th of April 11:30-4:30. These are always a great fundraiser for the club (helps to keep all our costs down to make playing accessible for everyone) and we often find ourselves run off our feet with the amazing support by the community with their want for snags in bread. Therefore, we require lots of help to ensure the day runs smoothly and the workload is spread around. If you have any free time on this day (can be as little as an hour) and wouldn't mind helping out, please contact us via our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/forestrangerssc. If you do not have any spare time you can still give back to the club by coming down and enjoy a nice BBQ snag. Thank you!
